Guess away

Love those CBS Sports columnists who drop the blind items. Big fun!

A recruit out West who ended up in the Pac-10 a few years ago charged schools $10,000 just to get him on campus for an official visit. I know the kid’s name — he’s in the NBA now — and I know the school he chose, but I don’t have it nailed down to the point where I can fill in those blanks for you, and odds are good that I never will. Several coaches have told me about the $10,000 price tag, including one coach who told me he turned that offer down, but there is no proof. Do I believe it? Absolutely. Can I prove it? Absolutely not.

After attempting to turn over every college basketball stone we could find, we sadly have no clues to offer. You’re on your own. The other blind item?

This happened at a restaurant at the 2007 Final Four, at a meal including 20 people, most of them coaches, a few of them NBA scouts, and me. A coach with a Final Four on his resume, a coach who has no idea I’m there, loudly accuses another coach of stealing a recruit. Better than that, this coach says he was out-cheated by the other guy — who also has a Final Four on his resume.

“I thought I had that deal all locked up,” this coach said. “But then (name withheld) comes in, does his thing, and it’s over. I’ll never recruit against (him) again.”

Youtube of the day

Try watching this without either getting goose bumps or ripping your clothes off. Can't be done. No way no how. Impossible. I dare you to try. I actually double dog dare you. The 4:29 mark is the pinnacle. And by the way I would have given my spleen to be of the people that got one of those roses.

$ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

by: Andy Katz, ESPN
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Selection Sunday is two months from today, and Wake Forest has every reason to believe it could be the best team in the country and a potential No. 1 overall seed.
Is this crazy talk?
Nope, not at all. We'll see what happens Saturday at undefeated Clemson, but Wake Forest continues to prove that it should be put in this category and on this level. The Demon Deacons also have a rightful claim to the No. 1 spot in the poll, with Duke and Pitt.
The Deacons (15-0, 2-0 in the ACC) beat up on Boston College on Wednesday, winning by 20 on the road. It wasn't that close for most of the game. Wake could have been feeling good about itself after the emotional win against North Carolina in Winston-Salem on Sunday night. The Demon Deacons could have waltzed into Conte Forum and been clocked by their overconfidence.
But it didn't happen.

Evening Oatmeal/Players for next years draft order

-For the most part next years teams will be the same, maybe a couple new ones added and 1 or 2 removed. Texas Tech will not be added, count on that. Possible additions are G-Tech, Mississippi, MSU, Oregon St., etc
-Next year 4 teams will make the playoffs instead of 3

On to the draft, everyone in the league is listed below. Whoevers players scores (meaning he has the ball in the endzone, not a TD pass) the last TD of the BCS championship game gets next years first pick. The person below that person then has the second pick and so on. So if a defensive TD is the last score of the game Frederick would have first pick, Bryan 2nd and Kobza would be the last pick. Any questions let me know.

Players were drawn out of a hat by Super Libbie.

*remember D.Murray is out for this game due to injury
1. Aaron Kobza---Broyles, Chaney, B.James
